Jana Kozlovsky Dufková, Vladan Jareš, Petr Húsek

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2010, 58(2), 155-160 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201058020155

Wind erosion, common problem of light-textured soils, was determined on heavy clay soils in the foothills of Bílé Karpaty Mountains, Czech Republic. Soil erodibility by wind was determined from the Map of potential erodibility of soil by wind and from the calculation of potential and real soil loss by wind. All the determinations show underestimation of soil erodibility by wind on heavy clay soils, because methods that are used for this are based above all on the assessment of clay particles content and the presumption the more clay particles soil contains, the less vulnerable to wind erosion is. The potential erodibility of soil by wind is 0,09 t.ha-1...

Recently, the abundant occurrence of galls of Contarinia petioli (Kieffer) was noted on Populus tremula in the Brno region and elsewhere in southern Moravia. The bionomics and cecidogenesis of the gall midge was studied on 5 to 15-year-old aspens in Forest District Bílovice nad Svitavou, Training Forest Enterprise Masaryk Forest in Křtiny in 2007 and 2008. Imagoes fly there at the end of April and at the beginning of May. Females lay eggs in several partial clutches at 1 to 6(10) pieces. About 91% newly hatched larvae settle on petioles of unfolding leaves, about 8% on the bark of terminal parts of shoots and about 1% on leaf blades....

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2010, 58(2), 287-294 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201058020287

The work is focused on characterization of rheological behavior of sewage sludges sampled at different stages of waste water treatment. The main attention was focused on dynamic viscosity dependence on temperature, and shear rate. The sludge samples were examined under temperature ranging from 1 °C to 25 °C and under shear rate ranging from 0.34 s-1 to 68 s-1. Rotary digital viscometer (concentric cylinders geometry) was used to perform the reological measurements. The solids content of the sludge samples ranged from 0.43 % to 21.45 % (A and C samples, respectively) and ash free dry mass from 56.21 % to 67.80 % (A and B samples,...

MOŽNÉ CESTY VSTUPU FTALÁTŮ DO ROSTLIN

Possible phthalates transport into plants

Alžbeta Jarošová

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2010, 58(2), 299-302 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201058020299

Soils can be contaminated by high concentrations of phthalic acid esters (PAE) resulting from industrial and intensive agricultural activities. A plant receives water and substances (including pollutants) from soil by means of rootage. Water solution received by the roots is distributed in particular by means of xylem. Reception by means of floem is not very considerable. Pollutants (including phthalates) can be absorbed by roots either by diffusion by means of soil gas phase or soil liquid phase. Another possible way of pollutant entering into the plant is diffusion from atmosphere. Way of substance entering into the plant is decided by so called...
