Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2019, 67(2), 383-393 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201967020383
The subject of this article is a comparison of results of soil texture analysis of loamy and sandy-loam soils for soil erodibilty calculation using the Casagrande areometric method and results obtained by the laser diffraction method. A comparison was made of 27 samples taken from the Větřkovice locality, and 18 samples taken from the Hustopeče locality. On the basis of laboratory analysis of the soil samples, curves of grain composition were plotted, and the soils were divided into grain-size groups according to the ratio of individual fractions. For comparison of the results, the soils' regression dependence, with linear, exponential, quadratic and...

Heat milk stability (thermostability, TES) is important technological feature which can contribute to create higher added value in the dairy industry. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the seasonal dynamics and relationships of TES to other milk qality indicators in the results of an exceptionally large data set of bulk samples without technological compositional modification and acidity adjustment, just with native raw cow milk. There were carried out 2,634 of TES measurements including other milk indicators during 3 years under controlled farm conditions. Results were processed by polyfactorial linear model of variance analysis and linear and...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2019, 67(2), 407-414 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201967020407
The aim was to assess the internal and external quality of consumer eggs of egg-laying hens of two selected genotypes depending on their age. All of these hens were kept in enriched cages. There were compared eggs from Hy-Line Brown and ISA Brown hens at the age from 36 to 64 weeks. In total, 3840 eggs from 300 hens were evaluated. Quality of eggs was determined by their technological value. Statistically significant interactions (P = 0.001) between age and genotype were found in all evaluated parameters except for the yolk colour (P = 0.044), whereas there was not found interaction (P = 0.072) between age and genotype in eggshell strength. The significant...

The aim of the study was to investigate the risk factors for formation of hock lesions in dairy cattle farms with different housing system. The study included 508 Black-and-white Holstein-type cows from 14 dairy farms in different regions of Bulgaria. On cows a hock lesion assessment (scale 1 to 3) and body condition scoring (scale 1 to 5) were made. From the total number of cows, 231 cows (45.5 %) with score of 2 and 3 were reported, which clinical manifestation was from loss of hairs on the hock joint surface to swellings and wounds. A statistically significant effect of lactation period, body condition scores (BCS) and housing system on the hock...

The variety, the age of the tree, the growth characteristics (tree height, trunk thickness, crown diameter and dryness) and health status were evaluated. The record of 972 old fruit trees of apple and pear trees were registered in selected municipalities. Pomological determination was made on 840 trees, of which 700 were apple trees and...

During aggregation of the tractor with the plough with an average increase in the force in the upper link of a three-point hitch by 25 kN, a decrease of slippage in average by 8.25 %, a decrease in fuel consumption by 1.875 ml/m3 and an increase in effective performance by 0.225 m3/s were achieved. During aggregation of the same tractor with the carried cultivator...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2019, 67(2), 447-452 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201967020447
The objective of this study is to determine the accumulation of heavy metals in the tissues of the small intestines of red foxes from 4 different areas of the northern part of the Czech Republic. The red foxes were relocated from countryside and free nature to the neighborhood of big cities in the last two decades, so it could be great indicator of pollution in these four different areas, with the focus on countryside problems with pollution of heavy metals. The heavy metal (Cd, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, Mn, Ni) concentrations in 27 samples and the relationships between heavy metal concentration in red fox tissue and the location of sample were investigated....

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2019, 67(2), 463-470 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201967020463
The most commonly used phytohormone to reduce the impact of drought is 24-epibrassinolide (EBR). In this study, EBR was applied over two years on young rootstocks of peach (B-VA-1) and myrobalan (Vanovice myrobalan) seedlings. Young rootstocks were treated by EBR at different concentrations, IAA and a mixture of EBR with IAA. The best results in seedling height of Vanovice myrobalan in both years had the treatment of 0.05% IAA, 549.69 mm (2016) and 553.77 mm (2017). On the other hand, on the crown root thickness was affected the most in 2016 by treatment of EBR 0.06 ppm (5.5 mm) and in 2017 by EBR 0.01 ppm (7.5mm). At B-VA-1 rootstock, the highest...
