Field experiments were conducted during the 2018 and 2019 cropping seasons at the Teaching and Research Farm, Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, Nigeria, to determine the effects of foliar sprays of Morinda lucida, Piper guineense, and Xylopia aethiopica at a 7.50% w/v level of concentration on disease incidence and severity on three rice (NG/SA/DEC/07/0278, FARO- 19, and FARO- 21) accessions. Experiments were a 3 × 5 factorial arrangement fitted into RCBD with three replications. Data obtained on disease incidence, severity, and agronomic performance were subjected to analysis of variance while significant means were separated...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2025, 73(2), 89-104 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2025.007
Microcredit is crucial to the reduction of poverty in underdeveloped nations. Smallholder farmers benefit from having access to microcredit by raising their standard of living. However, lack of access to microcredit is still the fundamental barrier to the economic progress of farmers. Current studies have been unable to fully comprehend the connection between productivity and microcredit. Therefore, this study investigated the impact of access to microcredit on cocoa yield in Osun State. A multi-stage sampling procedure was employed to select 120 cocoa farmers for the study. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, binary probit regression,...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2025, 73(2), 105-114 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2025.008
The article presents three Carex nothospecies new to the flora of the Czech Republic found in 2024 directly in the field and through revision of specimens in the larger Czech herbaria. We found Carex ×felixii (= C. acutiformis × C. elata) at two localities and five more records by revising herbarium specimens. Carex ×prahliana (= C. lasiocarpa × C. rostrata) was found at three sites, and Carex ×viadrina (= C. buekii × C. cespitosa) is now also known from three localities. In addition, we publish here six more records of Carex ×alluvialis, a hitherto missing hybrid in the Czech Republic, which we found at two localities, while the other records are...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2025, 73(2), 115-128 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2025.009
Rice cultivation on peatlands presents significant challenges due to extreme soil conditions, such as high acidity, high water content, and variable nutrient availability. These conditions can adversely affect plant growth and productivity, making the selection of suitable rice varieties critical for successful cultivation. This study evaluates local rice varieties for cultivation in the peatlands of Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra, by analyzing soil characteristics and genotype performance. Soil samples from Sunua Nan Sabaris, Pungguang Kasik, and Parak Pisang were assessed for water content, pH, ash content, organic carbon, and nutrient levels....

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2025, 73(2), 129-139 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2025.010
A total number of thirty-two (32) TN breed weaned pigs, aged 7 weeks having the average weight of 10.5 ± 0.5 kg were used to assess the feeding value of varying levels of corn and cob meal (CCM) on weaned pigs. The proximate composition and milling proportion of CCM were analyzed and its effect on growth response, nutrient digestibility, and blood parameters of weaned pigs fed varying levels. The acclimatization period of the pigs lasted for seven days and they were randomly allotted to four (4) dietary treatments with eight (8) pigs as replicates. The experiment was carried out for seven weeks. The experimental design was completely Randomized...

Forest resource asset management is a crucial area of research in sustainable development and ecological economics. This study systematically analyzes the development of research in this field using bibliometric and text-mining methods, based on data from the Web of Science Core Collection (2000-2023). Key aspects examined include research trends, core countries and institutions, journal distribution, research hotspots, and future directions. The findings reveal the following:
