Spiders are one of the most diverse and numerically abundant arthropods. They have a wide distribution and inhabit different types of habitats. Their occurrence and distribution function as a bio-indicator of that area and their presence is influenced greatly by the corresponding habitat and vegetation types. In this study the spider fauna was surveyed from November 2019 to October 2020 in three locations of Kailashahar, Tripura, India. A total of thirty-two species belonging to thirteen families and eighteen genera were identified. Among them nine species are reported for the first time in Tripura, India - Neogeo nocticolor, Tetragnatha mandibulata,...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2021, 69(6), 629-634 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2021.055

The limited range of Milky Stork in its natural habitat, as well as in under captivity, makes it difficult to learn more about it. This paper aimed to examine the breeding biology of Milky Stork raised in captivity in the Zlín-Lešná Zoo in the Czech Republic. By analyzing partial reproduction characteristic, we wanted to supplement the knowledge that is needed to ensure the necessary degree of reproduction of the Milky Stork in human care. The monitoring was carried out in the Zlín-Lešná Zoo and the following reproductive indicators were analysed: annual laying rate, size and weight of eggs laid, monitoring of egg weight loss during incubation, hatchability,...

Research of Growth Dynamics of Selected Deciduous Trees for the Needs of Landscape Architecture

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2021, 69(6), 635-641 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2021.056

The main target of the research was to compare the growth dynamics of woody plants in relation to their age, specifically in individuals up to 10 years after planting. Five fast-growing species (Fraxinus excelsior, Populus alba, Populus nigra, Ulmus laevis, Ulmus minor) and four control species (Acer campestre, Carpinus betulus, Prunus avium, Tilia cordata) were selected. The model site is part of the regional biocentre in Brno. It is a warm area with an increased groundwater level. The planting took place in 2011. Evaluation was done at the turn of 2016/2017 and included measuring the following attributes: the overall height of the specimen, the annual...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2021, 69(6), 643-653 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2021.057

The subject of the study was the large library of historical horticultural literature located at the Silva Tarouca Research Institute for Landscape and Ornamental Gardening. Besides the library of Earl Arnošt Emanuel Silva Tarouca, the study also included related stocks, i.e. books and periodicals purchased by the Czechoslovak Dendrological Society and the State Agricultural Experimental Objects until 1936, the year of A. E. Silva Tarouca's death and the transformation of the research institution. Of all the topics represented, most books focused on the landscape architectonic creation of gardens. Key publications of the period can be found in the...

Agriculture Land Price Setting Systems, and Possible Directions for Their Updating

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2021, 69(6), 655-664 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2021.058

The aim of this article is to assess the effect of the applied land valuation system on the price of land, and as a consequence of the implied links to compare the valuation of soil units in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In order to fulfil this objective, an econometric approach was chosen in the form of a hedonic price model, whereby the heteroscedastic corrected linear regression model was specifically applied. The estimated model shows a very high explanatory ability, together with a high parametric significance for most fictitious variables (land characteristics), and at the same time also fulfils the theoretical and logical consistency of general...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2021, 69(6), 665-675 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2021.059

Biostimulants have been defined as substances or materials extracted from plants, which have the capacity to beneficially modify plant growth. Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is an annual legume of the family Fabaceae and it is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, and protein. Two field experiments were conducted in Northwestern Iran (L1: Maragheh and L2: Hashtroud) to determine the effects of farmyard manure (FYM) application (0 and 20 t/ha) and foliar application of bio-stimulants and chemical nutrients (acid salicylic, acid ascorbic, riboflavin, silicon dioxide nanoparticles, micronutrients, and distilled water as control) on nutritional...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2021, 69(6), 677-683 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2021.060

Phosphorus is a major nutrient for plants and the determination of available phosphorus in soil is necessary for agricultural practices. Phosphorus balance in soil was assessed in the long-term stationary experiment at Hněvčeves from 1980 to 2015. The results indicate that the phosphorus balance was significantly influenced by the doses of phosphorus in mineral fertilization and farmyard manure. The most well balanced balance of phosphorus in soil was achieved at the plots with low doses of phosphorus applied in mineral fertilization and farmyard manure. Negative phosphorus balance was found out in the combination without the dose of phosphorus in...
