Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2023, 71(1), 7-13 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2023.001

The aim of this study was to evaluate the possibility of using simple screening methods to determine zooplankton biomass in ponds. Among the applicable methods, we selected sedimentation determination of wet biomass and dry biomass determination. Of the 369 samples analysed, the median volumetric zooplankton biomass was 0.012 ml.l-1 and the median dry weight of the samples was 0.44 mg.l-1. There was a relatively close relationship between the volumetric biomass determination and the zooplankton dry weight determination, allowing only one of these methods to be used. Due to the variation of results over a wide range of values,...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2023, 71(1), 15-33 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2023.002

The purpose of this study was to investigate the responses of growth indices and yield of the black cumin to nitrogen and methanol under drought stress conditions. The experiment was a split split plots based on randomized complete block design with three factors and three replicates in the research farm of Medicinal Plants Research Center, Shahed University, Tehran, Iran, during 2019- 2020. The factors were drought stress with 4 levels (non-stress, mild, moderate, and severe) as the main factor, nitrogen with 4 levels (0, 30, 60, and 90 kg ha-1 nitrogen from the source of urea) as the sub-factor and methanol with 3 levels (0, 10, and 30%)...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2023, 71(1), 35-42 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2023.003

Sperm cryopreservation is a complex process consisting of several steps, the details of which are not yet universally agreed upon. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different equilibration times and freezing rates on post-thaw resilience and functional integrity. Collected semen from five Holstein bulls (30 samples in total) were split into 4 aliquots to produce frozen straws after 2 different equilibration times (2 h and 4 h) and freezing rates (2-phase and 3-phase). After thawing, the sperm characteristics were measured by flow cytometry. A linear model procedure was used to determine the effects of bull, equilibration time,...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2023, 71(1), 43-51 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun.2023.004

The article presents the results of evaluating the effectiveness of the use of modern electronic driving systems for machine-tractor units in the precision farming system and comparative tests of a new cultivator-fertilizer for shallow non-moldboard cultivation and subsoil differentiated application of mineral fertilizers in the fallow field of southern chernozems of the northern region of Kazakhstan. In the Republic of Kazakhstan, near and far abroad, technical means for subsoil application to a depth of more than 14 cm with a differentiated application system for non-moldboard processing are not produced. Therefore, such work has not been carried...
