The studies aimed at identification of various ash doses effect on the amount of yield and concentrations of Cr, Zn, Pb, Cu, Cd and Ni in maize. The effect of the χ-casein (C-CSN) and β -casein (B-CSN) loci on the milk production traits (milk yield, fat, protein and lactose content) was estimated for 807 and 488 Czech Fleckvieh and 402 and 244 Holstein cows, respectively. Standard chemical analysis was performed to characterise six samples of bottled wines from South Moravia. Temperature influence (range from 20 °C to 50 °C). Density data processing led to determination of the expansibility coefficients at 25 °C and their temperature dependence. It was found that, viscosity of wine decreases non-linearly with increasing temperature. Fitting of the experimental data in some theoretical models was performed in order to describe the temperature dependence of the viscosity of wine. In 2004 and 2005 we explored the effect of graded doses of selenium in the soil (0, 12, 24, 48 and 72 kg Se.ha-1) on yield-forming parameters (total plant weight, number of stems per hill, number of tubers per hill and hectare yields) in two varieties of potatoes of different vegetation periods. Changes in amino acid spectrum of colostrum within the period of 2 to 72 hours post partum were studied in dairy cows of the Czech Red Pied cattle with a genetic admixture of Black Pied Lowland breed (n = 10). Five of them were on the 1st lactation and 5 on the 2nd and/or higher lactations. The experimental rearing of tench (Tinca tinca) juveniles of two size classes with initial individual weight of 0.8 and 1.2 g was performed into flow-through aquaria connected to recirculation system during a period of 63 days. The influence of the eggshell shape on the stress distribution under internal pressure is studied. A mathematical description of the hen's eggshell is proposed. The analytical expressions for the membrane solution are presented. Obtained results are used for the evaluation of a set of domestic hen's eggs. 28 eggs were analysed in this study. Infestation of the barley grains by pathogens (fungi of the genus Fusarium) was studied on malting barley from Kroměříž and Žabčice in the Czech Republic. Most frequent species in year 2005 was: Alternaria, Cladosporium and Fusarium. Most frequent species of Fusarium were F. culmorum, F. graminearum and F. avenaceum. A statistically significant difference was discovered when we compared the number of fusarium-attacked ears of the untreated variants of both localities (higher attack in Žabčice).

The changes in the content of water-soluble sulphur in the soil after the application of straw and elemental sulphur (ES) were explored in a 2-year vegetation pot experiment. The following variants were included in the experiment: 1) unfertilised control; 2) wheat straw; 3) rape straw; 4) ES; 5) wheat straw + ES; 6) rape straw + ES. The two types of straw were applied in a dose of 32 g of dry matter and elemental sulphur was applied in a dose of 0.42 g per pot, i.e. 6 kg of soil. Marguerite daisy (Argyranthemum frutescens) is an ornamental plant, that is used as a potted and landscape plant. In 2006, disease symptoms were observed on marguerite daisy (A. frutescens cv. 'Butterfly') in greenhouses in Brno-Tuřany. The pathogen primarily affected newly expanded young leaves and shoot tips. They were chlorotic, twisted and stunted. The affected leaf tips were necrotic. Bud flowers and flowers were deformed and get dry. The extensive purplish brown growth of downy mildew colonized the lower surface of infected leaves. Older leaves were unaffected.
