Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2011, 59(5), 23-30 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201159050023

Steel machine parts are exposed to electrochemical corrosion. This applies to many environments including atmosphere, soil, water, and even various fertilizers. High-carbon steel and low-alloyed steel are not stable (in terms of thermo-dynamics), do not feature effective passivation, and even the corrosion products do not form a stable protection layer. As a result, special anti-corrosion protection is critical. In heavy-corrosion environment, paint systems containing Zn have proven to be very effective.Presented text describes verification of paint systems with high Zn content and compares them to galvanic Zn coatings. Steel samples with protective...

The goal of the study conducted in 2008 and 2010 at the Research Forage Production Station in Vatín was to investigate the influence of seed age and seed treatment by Proradix method on the germination dynamics, total germinating capacity and initial growth rate of selected meadow grass varieties. The testing was carried out in controlled conditions on the germinator. Our results indicate that the age of seed significantly affects both the germination dynamics and the total germinating capacity. On day 7 after the establishment of the trial, a significantly higher germinating capacity was observed in the 4-year old seed (33.3%) as compared with the...

The aim of this study was to determine effect of lactation stage and number, current milk performance and ambient temperature on laterality of dairy cows laying behaviour (i.e. preference of either left or right body side). The monitoring was performed at the University Training Farm in Žabčice, Czech Republic, (geographical coordinates 49° 0'4'' N and 16° 36' E, the altitude 179 m) within the six warmest months of the year 2010 (i.e. from 1 April 2010 to 30 September 2010). Observed were altogether 70 Holstein dairy cows with the average daily milk production of 34.48 kg of milk, which were kept in loose housing boxes with bedding (size of boxes:...

Hydrocolloids are high-molecular-weight polymer substances soluble in water which create viscous colloidal solutions. They are mainly used to influence functional properties of food (structure, texture, etc.), improving their properties during production (bigger dough volume, better dough manipulation - better adhesion), increasing stability, maintaining taste firmness in frozen products and prolonging durability of cereal products in food industry.Hydrocolloids are characteristic for their thickening effect and are used for their emulsifying and steadiness properties. The aim of this review is to provide useful information about hydrocolloids...
