Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2014, 62(3), 451-468 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201462030451

The paper presents the cultural landscape surrounding Roztěž near Kutná Hora. The existence of a designed landscape linked to the person of Franz Anton von Sporck was presumed in the area between the chateau of Roztěž and chapel of St. John Baptist on the Vysoká hill built in 1695-1697. Compared to other landscape designs of Sporck this project is almost unknown, but the name of the landlord offers a clue. This is the reason why this area was selected for testing the Methodology for Identification of Designed Landscapes created at the Department of Landscape Planning of FH MENDELU in 2012. The assessment confirmed the basic compositional relation (Roztěž...

Miloslav Hradil

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2014, 62(3), 487-494 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201462030487

A number of technical complications go hand in hand with the reality of research on the effectiveness of windbreaks. Direct wind measuring in the windbreak area must be linked to specific meteorological situations that are not very frequent. A limiting factor for more frequent field measuring is also the development of surrounding areas of windbreaks. It is for these reasons that indirect methods are becoming more important. This work simulates the effect of several windbreaks in Southern Moravia (Czech Republic, Central Europe), on the modification of wind speed with the aid of the WAsP Engineering program. The windbreaks were defined in the program...

Ivana Kameníčková, Lucie Larišová

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2014, 62(3), 501-506 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201462030501

The soil moisture retention curves (SMRCs) were measured in laboratory conditions. The sand table and pressure extractor method were used to obtain a 9-point SMRCs for undisturbed soil samples taken from 20 cm depth. The data points of the individual retention curves were parameterized using the RETC computer program. For the same soil, the SMRCs were estimated by two models of pedotransfer functions (PTFs). In the first part of the study the Rosetta program with the model of artificial neural network (Schaap et al., 1998) was used. The PTFs derived by Wösten et al. (1998) were used in the second part of the study. The reliability of...

Degradation Processes of Al-Zn Welded Joints

Jiří Votava, Vojtěch Kumbár, Petr Dostál

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2014, 62(3), 571-578 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun201462030571

Welding of metal materials belongs to non-demountable joints. Current trend especially in an automotive industry is to join materials with a different melting temperature. Most of all, there are dural profiles with ferrite or austenite steel. The reason for this is the effort to lower the weight of the whole construction and at the same time preserve sufficient mechanical characteristics. However, there is a big risk of different electrical potentials of both of these metals in this type of non-demountable joints. The experimental part of this paper brings evaluation of mechanical-corrosion processes of overlapped joints produced by the CMT (cold...
