AB Since the Rio Earth Summit sustainable development involving environmental, economic or human issues has been set as an important goal. There are a lot of measures that try to reach the Summit aim, among others Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI) and Human Development Index (HDI). The aim of presented article is to bring more light into the spatial distribution of ESI and HDI in EU countries and find relevant relationship between these two indices.
