This issue is researched in the long term at the Economic University of South Bohemia. The paper presents a comparison of trends in the average level of functioning of core processes (selling, human resources, marketing and finance) in the South Bohemian Region MSP for 3 years in the sector of trade. The first data was obtained under the grant GAJU 068/2010/S in 2010, and the second group of data was obtained from the grant GAJU 039/2013/S and GAJU 079/2013/S in 2013. From all the chosen processes within the research sample, significant changes can be shown only in the processes of human resources management and production where improvement of functioning of the processes was achieved. In the research project were used secondary data (financial statements of SMEs, who took part in the research and primary data which were obtained primarily through quantitative methods questionnaire supplemented by qualitative method of in-depth interviews. The goal is to find out whether or not the government tries to manipulate the state budget and its components for the purpose of re-election across the countries of the European Union. In order to verify this theory a dynamic panel data model was used. The results were significant, but only if predetermined elections were not counted into the estimations. In that case, the theory of the political budget cycles could be accepted as valid for the EU countries. The main driving force of the political budget cycles across the countries of the European Union is fluctuation of the government expenditures. During the election year, the government expenditures are higher, and a year after the election, government expenditures are lower. This is reflected into the state budget balance. The goal is to identify which shocks represent threats for the economy and how large the distortions are. The results show that four single shocks can take the economy to the zero lower bound, and that of the four, productivity shock in the tradable sector is the most dangerous. The consequences for the behaviour of macroeconomic variables are nontrivial and, quite naturally, increase with the size of the shock and the frequency of occurrence. If the economy is subject to all model specific shocks, there are distortions in terms of lower average values of output and consumption (by more than one percentage point) and higher inflation volatility (by more than six percentage points). To reduce these costs, the central bank should give higher weight to inflation and lower weight to the output gap in monetary policy rule. The main aim was to describe the whole decision making process of this generational cohort. In this paper, only selected features are presented, especially early phases of decision making. For the purposes of the study, people with the year of birth between 1980 and 2000 served as a population. Data were collected by online and written questionnaire during autumn and winter 2014/2015. The sample of 380 respondents was conducted by non-probability sampling technique, more specifically judgemental sampling. Results suggest that Generation Y individuals prefer online environment to search for information before purchase. The four most used channels in both countries are the same and all online (e.g. web search engine or retailer's website). These young people mainly rely on themselves when they look for some personal recommendations, so own experience was the most important source. The choice of a particular shop is influenced by the quality of goods offered, but also by the price level which should be below the competitors. Wide assortment which enables to choose an appropriate product is also preferred. According to these results segmentation in both countries was conducted. Particular segments in both countries differ, but we can also find some common attributes. From various types of classification models we chose Support vector machines method with linear, polynomial and radial kernels to acquire best results. Pre-processing is enhanced with filter based feature selection like Gain ratio, Chi-square and Relief algorithm to acquire attributes with the best information value. On this basis we deal with random samples of financial data to measure prediction accuracy with the confusion matrices and area under curve values for different kernel types and selected features. From the results it is obvious that with the rising distance to the bankruptcy there drops precision of bankruptcy prediction. The last year (2013) with avaible financial data offers best total prediction accuracy, thus we also infer both the Error I and II types for better recognizance. The 3rd order polynomial kernel offers better accuracy for bankruptcy prediction than linear and radial versions. But in terms of the total accuracy we recommend to use radial kernel without feature selection. This is viewed with regards to economic multipliers, sectoral interdependence and trade concentration. The results show that changes occurred with regards to multipliers and sectoral interdependence. The output multipliers of most sectors have declined. The results also show that the agricultural sector experienced an initial decline in its growth while industry experienced an increase. The performance of the services sector was relatively stable for the period covered by the study. There is a decline in the level of trade concentration though on a whole the concentration index is still high. Activity-Based Costing (ABC) is a management tool that provides additional and more accurate information on the costs and company performance, thus contributes to better manager decision making, and thus has potential to affect the financial performance. This paper aims to investigate the link between the use of ABC among corporations in the Czech Republic and improvement in corporate financial performance. The empirical survey was carried out among 548 Czech medium-sized and large companies from various economic sectors. Financial performance was measured by standardized Return on Assets from 2005 to 2011.The ABC expansion among enterprises in the Czech Republic is currently comparable with neighbouring countries, although the extent of its use is lower. Surprising but statistically significant results show that businesses that use ABC have on average the same or even lower financial performance than businesses without ABC. UNESCO distinguishes three types of cultural landscape, of which a clearly defined landscape designed and created by man is the most easily identifiable. Such a landscape embraces gardens and parklands constructed for aesthetic reasons with monumental buildings and ensembles. Old maps, aerial photographs, and GIS technology enabled us to study historic land cover and to trace its changes up to the present. Designed landscapes are highly valuable, and their identification and protection is an important aspect of cultural monument protection. Detailed archival research and knowledge of historical development form the basis of the analyses. Historical cultural artifacts, designed landscape composition, and dendrological history were defined using ArcGIS software. We present a case study on Červený Hrádek, which is located near the towns of Jirkov and Chomutov and adjacent to lignite mines in the Most basin. This location represents a high risk of endangerment to valuable cultural history. Therefore, the identification of Červený Hrádek's significant historical artifacts and their careful management are highly recommended. In the paper both types of analysis are compared on the basis of the results they provide. The aim is to identify advantage and limits of both methods and provide methodological suggestion for their further use in the tourism research. The analyses is based on the primary data from the customers' satisfaction survey with the key quality factors of a destination. As output of the two statistical methods is creation of groups or cluster of quality factors that are similar in terms of respondents' evaluations, in order to facilitate the evaluation of the quality of tourist destinations. Results shows the possibility to use both tested methods. The paper is elaborated in the frame of wider research project aimed to develop a methodology for the quality evaluation of tourist destinations, especially in the context of customer satisfaction and loyalty. We showed that overdispersion, non-linear systematic component and interacted rating factors should be considered when the claim frequency is modelled. We detected overdispersion in the Poisson model and employed the negative-binomial model to show that considering heterogeneity over insurance policies yields better fit of the model. We also analysed the linear effect of continuous rating factors and their mutual influences. We showed that non-linearity and interactions between rating factors yield the better fit of the model, as well as new findings related to the analysis of claim frequency. This paper investigates the impact of agricultural exports on economic growth in Nigeria using OLS regression, Granger causality, Impulse Response Function and Variance Decomposition approaches. Both the OLS regression and Granger causality results support the hypothesis that agricultural exports-led economic growth in Nigeria. The results, however, show an inverse relationship between the agricultural degree of openness and economic growth in the country. Impulse Response Function results fluctuate and reveal an upward and downward shocks from agricultural export to economic growth in the country. The Variance Decomposition results also show that a shock to agricultural exports can contribute to the fluctuation in the variance of economic growth in the long run. For Nigeria to experience a favourable trade balance in agricultural trade, domestic processing industries should be encouraged while imports of agricultural commodities that the country could process cheaply should be discouraged. Undoubtedly, this measure could drastically reduce the country's overreliance on food imports and increase the rate of agricultural production for self-sufficiency, exports and its contribution to the economic growth in the country. The lack of integrity of definitions appears to be the reason to analyse talent management practices. The article focuses on consistency of suggested practices in management of organisational strategies. The aim is to reveal current approach of Czech organisations towards talent management practices and to specify the main factors affecting employee development in talent management in the tested organisations. Bivariate and multivariate statistical methods and analyses were used to lower the number of possible single approaches and practices. Analyses formed valid factors, which influence and determine employee development as key principles of talent management: alignment with strategy, internal consistency, cultural embeddedness, management involvement, and employer branding through differentiation. Results identified and verified different ways of support of talented employees. Firstly, it is Talent management in its original shape (25.9%), secondly, Learning organisation based on common learning (23.5%) and the third factor name is Plain promises (12.4%). Organisations grouped in the factor only declare possibility of development, but do not practically use it.
